SM490A, SM490B, SM490C and SM490YA/YB under JIS G3106 are different grades of rolled steel for welded structures, among which SM490YA/YB is known as super-heavy welded structural steel.
The following are the areas of application of JIS G3106 SM490A SM490B SM490C AM490YA:
SM490A: Used for structural components in external engineering, ships, military (armoured) buildings, etc.
SM490B: Commonly used for cutting machinery and equipment parts, large welded steel structures, large buildings such as warehouses and factories, waiting halls, also applied to bridge structures, large exhibitions and high-rise building structures.
SM490C: Similar to SM490A and SM490B, it is used for bridges, ships, vehicles, petroleum storage tanks, containers and other structures that require superior weldability.
SM490YA: Steel for super-heavy welded structures, especially for bridges, motorway construction and other more demanding structures.
